EShip Cafe: The Meetup for Community-Led Development - Hosted by Y.hub
Y.hub Coworking
09:30 – 11:30
Hello, EShip Community
It is time again for another of our monthly meetups that focus on Economic Sustainability through Community-Led Development.
Entrepreneurship (EShip) is both the study of how new businesses are created as well as the actual process of starting a new business - the term is used interchangeably
Economic Sustainability
Policymakers often report that small business is the employment engine of the economy.
New and emerging companies are the primary sources of job creation. Not only that, but these firms also contribute to economic dynamism and community empowerment by injecting competition into markets, spurring local innovation and sustainability.
Community-Led Development
Fostering an environment where people connect through common interests and work together to overcome challenges is a major factor in developing general wellbeing and good governance within a community.
Good governance guides are an essential part of every Local Government Authority and are an integral part of the policy framework within which local authorities work and deliver services to the communities that they represent and serve.
Connect too likeminded people in your Local Government Authority (Council)
This is a relaxed networking event for people with ideas, seeking community validation.
Each participant has a chance to network, introducing themselves and their ideas or projects to the other attendees.
Look forward to seeing you there......

Global Entrepreneurship Congress 2019 - Bahrain
The Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), H.E. Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa participated in the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) which took place between the 15th and 19th of April 2018 in Istanbul, Turkey.
The CEO of BTEA, H.E. Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa, participated in a panel discussion which revolved around the significance of the tourism sector and how it has become a major contributor to the national economy due to the recent developments aimed at enhancing the Kingdom's position as a leading destination for hosting meetings, exhibitions, conferences and incentives (MICE).
“The Kingdom is also witnessing further enhancement to its tourism infrastructure, contributing 6.8% to the country’s non-oil GDP. Bahrain welcomed a total of 12.7 million tourists in 2017 which affirms the significant role of the sector in the Kingdom’s economic diversification efforts,” said the CEO of BTEA, H.E. Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa.
“The BTEA's strategy focuses on developing the Kingdom’s unique tourism products and experiences. We are currently working on several plans to develop new beach fronts and public beaches including the development of Bahrain Bay, Diving Centre, the Hospitality and Culinary institutes, the Galali beach project and Al Muturith Island. The launch of the new exhibition and conference centre will positively impact various sectors, furthering strengthening the Kingdom’s position on the world tourism map,” he added.
The Global Entrepreneurship Congress will be hosted in the Kingdom of Bahrain in April 2019, opening up new opportunities for regional and global businesses to enhance experience sharing, seek investment opportunities and boost cooperation.
GEC brings together thousands of entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, policymakers and other startup businesses from more than 170 countries to identify new ways of helping founders start and scale new ventures around the world. At the weeklong GEC, delegates make connections, gain insights and learn about new research to renew their programs, policy ideas or firm founder skills.

Who can get involved in Global Entrepreneurship Week?
Anybody. Anywhere. Anytime. Organisations can get involved in a variety of capacities— planning events and activities as a Community Builder or even coordinating the initiative for an entire Region (State/Territory) as an appointed GEW host. Individuals interested in exploring their entrepreneurial potential can find a broad array of activities—from local events to global competitions. Entrepreneurs and investors can share their ideas and experiences—face-to-face or online. How you get involved is up to you. If you want a little guidance, connect with the Community Builder for your LGA. If there is not a Community Builder for your LGA, please contact us to suggest one or to self-nominate.
Why should you plan or schedule an activity during Global Entrepreneurship Week?
By hosting an event or activity during Global Entrepreneurship Week you have a positive—and potentially life-changing—impact on aspiring and nascent entrepreneurs, moving them along the spectrum from simply having an idea to actually launching a startup. In addition, these activities help recognise and celebrate the contributions made to your community by local entrepreneurs and Innovators.
More directly, planning one or more events during GEW also has some tangible benefits for you and your organisation:
Raise awareness of your organisation and gain recognition for the work you do throughout the year.
Reach new audiences within your community, potentially identifying talented volunteers or even new employees.
Enhance your leadership profile within the entrepreneurial ecosystem of your city, state, region or country.
Strengthen connections with existing supporters and sponsors by providing them with more visibility for them.
How can I connect with other people involved in Global Entrepreneurship Week?
In addition to connecting face-to-face during GEW events and activities, participants can continue their conversations year-round through monthly meetups and a handful of official GEW social media channels:
